Painting Architectural Elements in Landscape
This event has already happened.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Instructor: Christopher Groves
We are excited to bring Chris Groves back for his annual workshop at Townsend Atelier in 2019. His workshops are always excellent, informative, and fill up quickly, so register as soon as you are able.
This three-day workshop will cover how to use the basic elements within various types of architecture and structures, in order to construct a compositional sound painting. Gestural elements, the flow of design, and color harmony will be heavily discussed. Experimenting with Cold Wax and various mediums as an addition to oil paint in order to add texture, layering, and mark making, along with adding a variety of tools will also be covered. This workshop will allow artists to explore new directions in their own artwork. The workshop will start the first day with experimenting with the tools and mediums on many small-scale studies. The next 2 days will be painting a larger piece in order to achieve some freedom and loosening up in the painting process.
Photo reference material/subject matter will be provided but students can bring their own if they wish. There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own. For students traveling from out of town, feel free to contact us if you need help with accommodation recommendations. We will be happy to help!
