6 Week Class: Negative Painting for Layerist Acrylic Painters with Sandra Washburn
This event has already happened.
(recommended for less experienced painters)
Time: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Fee: $235.00 + Materials
During this 6-week class, we will explore the many possibilities of negative painting combined with mixed media layerist techniques. We will begin with a toned and textured canvas, building up layers of artist-generated papers. Between layers, we will apply passages of negative painting, working from light to dark as the image progresses. Final layers may include additional mixed media materials, including rice paper strings, cheesecloth, gel and texture mediums, and metal leaf as desired. Participants may choose to work from reference photos of close up images with lots of line, such as floral, foliage, machinery workings, etc., or they may work abstractly.
It is recommended that artists prep the canvas by applying a layer of acrylic gel before the first class.
