Introduction to Sculpture
This event has already happened.
10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Instructor: Maria Willison
In this weekend workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of sculpting three-dimensional forms. The two projects we will be working on will build upon one another. During the first project we will be sculpting a bell pepper. This is a common way to introduce students to sculpting three-dimensional forms, as peppers have many interesting undulating forms that are perfect to sculpt with not too much overwhelming detail. For the second project, students will sculpt a facial detail from casts of Michelangelo's David's face. This is a tried and true traditional method for teaching sculpture and allows students to gain insight into form and human anatomy. These projects will be invaluable foundations for students as they continue in their artistic endeavors.
