The Colonnade Players, by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. is proud to bring the fan favorite "Steel Magnolias" back to The Colonnade stage in March 2019.

"Steel Magnolias" written by Robert Harling chronicles the lives of the women who frequent Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. All the ladies who are "anybody" come to Truvy's for a wash and a set as well as a good dose of gossip and hilarious repartee.

The first act introduces a somewhat mysterious new assistant, Annelle for beauty shop owner Truvy and the frequent visitors to the shop that include Clairee, the eccentric, millionaire former Mayor's wife; wise-cracking, acerbic Ouiser Boudreaux; social leader of the town M'Lynn and her soon-to-be-married daughter, Shelby.

Filled with free advice, verbal antics and humorous, yet revealing, conversation, the second act moves toward tragedy as the women of Chinquapin face the realization of their own mortality. We see the true characters reveal strength, humor and love that is truly touching and exceptionally funny. You will laugh and cry and laugh until you cry.
