Experience the sights and sounds of 19th century life at New Echota. Demonstrators will provide a glimpse of what life was like at the Cherokee Capital. Historic life demonstrations will be presented throughout the day and will include blacksmithing, tanning, stone knapping, basket making, pottery, salt making, herbalist, and more. A Cherokee historian, flutist, and storyteller will be making presentations. The event will include a Birds of Prey demonstration presented by Winged Ambassadors. New Echota Site is a designated National Historic Landmark, has been nominated as a Traditional Cultural Property and is certified site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. The park has information on maps and history concerning the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail and efforts to mark the Trail of Tears throughout North Georgia.
