THE ART OF THE SINGER/SONGWRITER PROMOTES COURAGE, CREATIVITY, & COMMUNITY
WHAT: The Art of The Singer Songwriter 6-week Course
WHEN: Every Tuesday 6 - 8pm August 27 - October 1
WHERE: Mountain Arts Community Center, Signal Mountain
WHO: Adults 18 and up
In 2014, Butch & Trish Ross came up with an idea to combine their areas of expertise and create a unique class to combine Butch's songwriting skills and touring experience with Trish's vocal and performance skills teaching. Between the two of them, their individual lives had taken them to professional music work in almost every kind of venue and most every genre, and they wanted to share their wisdom in a class that
would offer safety and encouragement as well as information and inspiration to musicians of all ages. 5 years and 6 adult classes and 2 teen classes later, they have found that not only do they have "graduates" who have successfully learned, written original
music, and found the courage to perform past the class - but a community that has bolstered each other in musical pursuits, collaborated with each other, and still meet once a month to share new material or just be together and enjoy a common bond.
This August, you have an opportunity to join this unique "family" of singer/songwriters who have learned to sing better, write better, use a mic, intro their songs,
do open mics, record their first (or second and third!) CDs, and have begun to enjoy a supportive community of musicians.
The class includes teaching in writing, vocal skills, performance skills; welcomes guest speakers from theSinger/Songwriter community, and each student will perform
their original song worked on in class, at a final "coffeehouse" concert.
Anthony Quails, a frequent speaker for The Art of the Singer/Songwriter says:
If you're a beginner or novice singer songwriter, my friends
have been instrumental in helping teach songwriting as well as performance and vocal techniques over the last several years. Their course is informative, encouraging and most importantly a safe place to grow in community. If you or someone you know are looking
to take the next step then sign up.
Space is limited, so early registration is critical. Classes are kept small to ensure quality attention for each student. For more information, email Trish Ross
